Cody and Jennelle’s story started like something out of a rom-com, only with fewer grand gestures and more tractor rides. They were originally introduced at Jay and Brittany's wedding social, then again during a visit to the shop with mutual friends. But it wasn’t until many years later— when Cody’s buddies wives managed his online dating profile with a quick swipe right (possibly several) that the couple would start chatting online.
Jennelle’s first impression of Cody? “Hmm, quiet, Man of few words.” (HA!) Cody’s first impression of Jennelle was that she had an amazing memory, because he had absolutely zero recollection of ever meeting her before. He later confessed that he had actually asked someone for her number, but was promptly shot down with a charmingly definitive, "I don't think so Cody!"
Their first date? Included a long walk out to a tractor cab in a field just north of the junction in early 2019. A few days later, it rained and Cody promptly invited himself over for supper. Little did she know, it wasn’t just the weather that would be sticking around. With rain in the forecast for the rest of the weekend, Cody unofficially moved in, and now, six years later, they’re still waiting for that second date to end.
Cody, never one to waste time, got straight to the point. At the end of the weekend, he casually asked, “So, does this mean I have a girlfriend?” Jennelle laughed, and hasn’t stopped laughing since. Later that day, when he asked if she wanted to go for a Sunday cruise, she thought it would be a cute little jaunt around the area, maybe to the river and back. Instead, she was paraded around north of the river like a prized 4H heifer.
At the start of that summer, they discovered they were going to be parents. So, naturally, after their son Brock's arrival, there were a couple of moves, a reno and eventually, a proposal. Cody was clearly in it for the long haul—turns out, he’s good at not leaving.
And here they are today, still making it up as they go, and enjoying the chaos along the way.
